Power Banks

What is a power bank, and what does it do? Basically, the power bank is a tool to save energy, a portable source of power, which is a tool to recharge gadgets when we’re travelling. We’ve become so attached to our smart phones and tablets that by the time lunch break rolls by, our devices are just as hungry for power.Though regular smart phones are equipped with batteries meant to last a full day or two, usage and network status decide to a large extent just how long your devices’s battery would last. If you find yourself on the go most of the time and in need of a mobile recharge, then a power bank is a must.

Power Banks | Capacity, Charging Rate & Safe Use

 Charging Rate |

Power banks currently range from as low as 550 mAh all the way up to a mega 30,000 mAh. Standard value options range from 2000 – 5000 mAh and can normally charge your  iPhone 5 or 6 around 50% – 80% depending on the charge available on your phone and the charge available on the power bank. Please note that if the phone is used while the phone is charging this may slightly decrease the power charging speed and thus affect the time to charge.

Capacity |

Power banks have really become the new must have item on everyone’s promotional sourcing list and gift list and for very good reasons. Most smart phones need lots of juice to power everything from cameras, heavy data usage, downloads, Music playing and much much more. To give you a scale, the iPhone 6 only has 1810 mAh of power. As battery sizes increase, the need for a power banks becoming clear for anyone who is active on their phones a daily basis.

Safe Use |

This is the MOST important part of Power Banks like the USB drives, is just because a casing looks the same doesn’t mean it is a comparable product. Many suppliers do not have certifications that are a must when sourcing these potential dangerous battery products. Power banks that have not been certified with UL and MSDS should never be used because they may not have a short circuit protection, over charging protection, or temperature protection, all of which are important when considering the safety of not only your clients but your business’ reputation as well!

A few points to always remember when using your power bank:

  1. If you continue to use the power bank while charging, disconnect if the power bank or phone becomes hot. It should be noted that most power banks will either become warm or cause the phone to become warm, but they should not be “hot” to the touch.
  2. Never lay your power bank and phone to charge on or near any flammable object. As seen in the above, if your power bank DOES overheat you will have more to worry about than a melted charging cable.
  3. Always make sure to use UL approved charging cables when charging. As seen in recent news reports, many low quality cables have melted when paired with smart phones and power banks.
  4. Do not place or leave your Power bank in direct sunlight or in an area which becomes very hot
  5. Keep it away from water, moist conditions, and especially virulent chemicals.
  6. As with any charging devise its always recommended not to leave the devise unattended while on charge
  7. Another safety tip is use a surge protector when charging the devise, these can be purchased in most retail / hardware stores for that added safety
  8. Do not knock or drop the devise
  9. Please clean the power banks output/input port termly, it’s better to use the dry anti-static brush while doing this.
  10. Put it in a reliable place where the children could not get access, a power bank is not a toy
  11. Do not use the voltage over 5.5 V power adapter to charge the power bank.
  12. Choose the matching output port to charge your digital devices
  13. If you metshort circuit situation during the charging, please shut off the power firstly,  then send it back to the distributor or factory to repair/replace it. Please do not disassemble or use the damaged power bank
  14. Please charge and discharge it one time every month If it is not been used for a long time, which could extend its lifetime
